Good morning from Giffnock,
Several 'well kent' and well respected people from our local places of worship and local sports clubs have approached me to express their relief at what you achieved by saving Huntly Park. I thought I should pass it on.
This sort of success does not happen without inclusive and widespread community support. It has been a pleasure to see it happen in such a positive way. We ultimately brought all political parties together to deliver for our community - just how it should be.
There is more to be done to show care for our wonderful home. Pick up for Giffnock and Thornliebank kicks off today. I have been litter collecting over the past year. Others have too (some far more than me!). What we need now is a little coordination. I propose that we form teams of local residents. I would be delighted to hear from any who can lend a hand in the following areas:
- Huntly Park.
- Eastwood Park/St Ninian's High School.
- Woodfarm High School.
- Rouken Glen Park.
- Woodfarm Playing Fields.
- Thornliebank Playing Fields.
- Giffnock Library Car Park.
- Merrylee Shops.
Today will be a late start for me due to a big Giffnock Soccer Centre away match (I have a supporting role only!), but I will be doing my bit with a litter picker later. Let's make Giffnock and Thornliebank the best place in Scotland to live, work and learn. That is a realistic ambition.
