Huntly Park has been central to life in Giffnock for almost a century. A threat to its existence continues with ongoing speculation that its lower playing fields may be sold for housing development. Such development would result in over half the park disappearing, together with a significant increase in traffic and demands on local services. The community in Giffnock has consistently opposed such development, but still the threat exists.

There have been many attempts over the past few years to defend the future of Huntly Park, but still the threat lingers on. This uncertainty is not good for our community. East Renfrewshire Council must now listen to the community and respect its wishes. 

By supporting this petition, you will be playing an important part in helping to save Huntly Park for the enjoyment of this and future generations. Not only should it be saved, it should be developed to enhance its value to our community as a local resource. Developing a community led café at the pavilion, the provision of all weather fitness equipment and the planting of wild meadow flowers in and around the woods and burn are but three ideas.
