Dear Friend of Giffnock,
You saved Huntly Park during a lockdown. No marches or placards were needed. We simply spoke up together as a community with a clear objective.
The next elements of our petition to be addressed are the improvements we call for. They are:
1. A community led café in the pavilion. I see this being run by members of the community with support from local businesses and organisations. I proposed 'Goldie's' as a name (after the park's former resident dog). 'Huntly Perk' would be another obvious alternative for the many Friends fans out there!
2. All weather fitness equipment. This would need to be robust and erected in such a way as not to spoil the character of the park.
3. Meadow flowers. Nurturing a meadow environment would enhance wildlife and our wellbeing. The fenced off area can still support the growth of wild flowers and the benefits that can bring.
I will work on these issues until they are delivered. If you can share the petition and we can grow support, it will help us to succeed.
Much has been achieved in four months during lockdown; much more still to do!
