Representing the Community's Views

Dear Friend of Giffnock,

My primary role as a Giffnock community councillor is to: 1. understand the views of our community; 2. discuss them with my fellow community councillors; and, then 3. decide upon representations to be made to East Renfrewshire Council.  Our community petition is a good example of step 1: understanding the community view.  I want all in the community to be as engaged as possible, as that makes for empowered local democracy.  That engagement is not about agreeing with the petition; it is about having the opportunity to know about it.  Then informed choices can be made.

I would ask that you share the petition widely and let the maximum number of people decide if they wish to support it.
