Save London trains from Alfreton and Langley Mill and keep seats on Nottingham commute
Why this petition matters
For rail users in Alfreton and Langley Mill, our train operators are East Midlands Railway (EMR) and Northern. Northern are having difficulties at present running a reliable service. All their their trains are 2 carriages long. EMR run 2 and 4 carriage trains as well as a London service (7 carriages) that leaves Alfreton at 07:53 with two return services in the evening. The 0753 carries many commuters from Sheffield and Chesterfield to Nottingham.
EMR are consulting on whether to remove the London services altogether. Please see page 30 of 32 of this document in the “general” section:

The proposal appears to be that a Norwich service (2 carriages) that currently departs from Nottingham will now depart from Sheffield and call at Alfreton and Langley Mill.
The removal of direct London services would be devastating for the Erewash Valley.
