Stop the felling of this beautiful red chestnut

The Issue

This beautiful red chestnut, which is one of a pair, has stood proud in the village of Sibsey in Lincolnshire for over 100 years. It has a Tree preservation order on it. Developers are wanting to cut down this tree so they can make a roadway wider and therefore build more houses. Planing has been passed for 4 houses and a drive way wide enough to service those houses through the 2 trees without the need of destruction.

The Red Chestnut tree is rare and according to an article published by the BBC the varieties of Horse Chestnut trees are under threat of extinction. Although the developers say they will plant another tree in its place it won’t replace the beautiful tree already there. We are in the process of trying to register both of these beautiful red chestnut trees with The Ancient Tree Inventory. We are hoping this will protect them from planning officers making the decisions as to the fate of such trees with TPOs on them.

Please could you sign this petition to East Lindsey District Council to ask them not to grant permission to cut this beautiful healthy tree down. One of a pair of beautiful red chestnut trees that have stood proudly in this little village in Sibsey Lincolnshire for well over 100 years.
