FIRE AT EKW

DNA experts are yet to arrive at the Nazirabad fire spot to collect body parts of the deceased for identification. As per reports, 14 samples of human remains, including skulls, bones, and mangled body parts, were sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) for analysis. The authorities are awaiting DNA test results to confirm the identities of the victims .

The fire, which broke out on January 26, has claimed at least three lives, with 27 people still missing. The state government has announced a compensation of ₹10 lakh to each family that lost a member in the fire.

Environmentalists and family members are anxious about the delay in DNA testing and identification process.

S M Ghosh Environmentalist said it's simply an environmental crime at Ramsar Site violating the international treaty for wetland conservation.

The concern about DNA mapping being too late for identifying the dead bodies in the Nazirabad godown fire is valid. According to reports, DNA tests are underway to confirm the identity of the victims, with samples from the next of kin sent to the lab for matching. However, it's been reported that no DNA expert has visited the site yet, which might delay the process .

The authorities have recovered remains of 27 people, and the forensic team is working on identifying them through DNA profiling. The process involves collecting DNA samples from the families of the missing persons and matching them with the recovered remains .

Given the circumstances, it's crucial to get updates on the investigation and the DNA testing process.
