Signing this petition will support the ban on selling gas filled balloons that land in out waters, wash up on our shores and harm wildlife. At the spring beach cleanup and survey, 195 balloon debris items were found over the mile of beach surveyed. During a November survey, 309 balloon debris pieces over the same mile of beach were found and picked up. In November, those 309 balloon debris items made up just over 15% of the total debris collected that day. Every signature on this petition will help make change. The amount of signatures could be presented as evidence in an East Hampton town board meeting. If there is a sufficient amount of signatures the town of East Hampton is very likely to make change.
