In the summer of 2021, the High Flyer public house erected a large white mug on the side of their premises. This was later complemented with Alice in Wonderland themed artwork from a professional artist and has featured on local news programmes.

We, the undersigned, feel that the mug enhances the streetscape and brings joy to many of the local citizens, as well as to visiting tourists. We posit that “art enhances any place where art is found” as Banksy has proved in Bristol.

We ask the Planning Officer to a) reconsider the enforced removal of said mug. b) to allow the owners of the pub to apply for retrospective planning permission so that this much loved and admired landmark may remain in place.
