Alley Cat Allies are proving themselves to be more than allies; they are Alley Cat CHAMPIONS, championing this cause! It's so extraordinarily encouraging that I very much urge you to read their statement. I've read it multiple times myself.
I wanted to share this news immediately, because after the shocking, shameful, divisive and heartrending events that took place January 6th in the United States Capitol, there simply must be a universal yearning for good news.
The first EBRPD Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday, 12 January at either 1pm or 1:30pm Pacific Time. (It says 1:30 in one place and 1:00 elsewhere. I'm sure that will be remedied.) The agenda is now posted, and, as expected, it does not include EBRPD's policy of shooting cats.
I hope to continue to review and discuss what was said at the 15 December meeting. I think we can learn from the speakers and from one another. I believe we can find common ground, and that together we can find a solution that protects native wildlife without resorting to killing cats.
These are such dark days, and at times I feel completely demoralized and overwhelmed by the challenges facing this country and this world. One of the quotes I always return to, time and again when I feel hopeless and powerless, is the quote I attached to this post. I hope it brings others comfort and resolve as well.
