Greetings and best wishes to our ever-growing colony!
Here is the link to yesterday's post by "Big Buddy" of "Pain in the Bud"! I am in awe of Little Buddy's "human servant"! He is such a talented writer. His serious posts are well-researched and present a great deal of information very clearly; he considers interesting questions and perspectives, and always writes with compassion. Also, his "fake news" posts have actually (literally) made me laugh out loud. I am very pleased to have his permission to share links to his site. Yesterday's "Pain in the Bud" post about EBRPD and the Oakport Colony includes the document EBRPD finally sent to Cecelia on 24 December. The document was so heartless and so sickening that I shied away from posting it. I didn't want other people to see it and to feel as awful as I did. I apologize, because it absolutely should be (and is required by law to be) made available to the public. Although I am honest, it turns out that I am also clearly a wimp, so I am very grateful that "Big Buddy" is a journalist, and that he posts the truth even when it's disturbing.
In happier news, Merry Bates, President of ICRA (Island Cat Resources and Adoptions) sent out an email to all of their members earlier today, including the lovely photo I've attached! On the left, you might recognize Charles from Dan Noyes' 14 December post on his public Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/DanNoyesABC7 ). Charles was a member of the Oakport colony who survived the EBRPD eradication attempts and was subsequently adopted through ICRA into a loving home. Like so many of the Oakport cats, and indeed community cats everywhere, Charles was assumed to be "feral" (completely unsocialized to people), when in fact he was a "stray", abandoned or lost, who almost certainly lived with people at some point in his life. On the right is Abe! Abe is another colony survivor whom ICRA has already adopted out to a loving forever home! As far as I know, Teddy (whose photo is attached to my 19 December update) is still safe with ICRA volunteers, patiently waiting for his forever home. (ICRA's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/icraeastbay and their website https://icraeastbay.org will no doubt post updates as soon as Teddy finds his perfect match.)
I am still working on a post specifically about the 15 December EBRPD Board meeting - the varying viewpoints presented, and the many comments and statements that were made. I haven't forgotten; I'm just very slow!
