Rename Lee High School!

Lee High School in Baton Rouge Louisiana has a 77% Minority enrollment. Lee High School is also named after Robert E. Lee, a person who fought to enslave the ancestors of many of the students that now attend. The recent events in Charlottesville have shown the ideals of people like Robert E. Lee. Many people seem to think that the school system changed the name of the school though they merely abbreviated it. Lee High School is Robert E. Lee High School and they revere the same person. We can all look back when Robert E. Lee High School was named to know that it had ill intent, the decision to name the school was made shortly after Brown Vs. Board of Education Education. Prior to the Supreme court decision a different name was selected. How is a parent of a student of Lee High School supposed to explain to their students why someone who promoted enslaving them is being revered. I know I couldn't answer the question. "Its not just innocent remembrances of a benign history, These monuments celebrate a fictional sanitized confederacy" - Mitch Landrieu, Mayor of New Orleans - President of the US Conference of Mayors
I am asking the School administration and School Board to reconsider renaming Lee High School out of respect for the people killed in Charlottesville fighting terrorists.
