A motion of Petition to the Hinds County Court for release by time served for Derrick Peterson #111030 comes now.  The petitioner (Derrick Peterson has served 9 yrs of incarcention. I completed my GED in 2010, during this same year I also became married to Sylvia Felton Peterson on April 24, 2010. 

Even Though I do not receive and credit or time off for participating in the work programs, I have managed to maintain employment through out my time as a barber, dorm on duty and I'm currently  working as a librarian.

Furthering my education in computer skills, small Business Operation, Grant writing, earning a certificate of certification in Carpentry and Basic Construction and have also participated inf various college courses for the Incarcerated. I have a strong passion to help my father continue building on the foundation of 3rd generation of our family construction company.  I also desire to be a productive person for my Family, Friend, and Community.  I have grown deeply in the spiritual side of life and I wish to help the youth and reach out to the drop-out teens in my community.  Ezekiel chapter 18 verse 27-28 "speaks about a person turning away from his wicked path turning from his wicked path turning from his transgression it says he shall live."Through  Repentance I am seeking Time served.  My Accomplishment prove that I'm capable and qualified to not only maintain a job, but also open, operate and run my own business. 

So The for Time served come not.

I would like to take the time now to show some of my Business Ideas/progress with you. I have learned the Arts of Brick Masonry in the carpentry class.  This is a field of which I plan to add to the expansion of the Family construction company, because it is most needed and we are only during foundation work.  Also the name will be Peterson and Shelton's "Path Finder Construction."  House framing will also be included as well as House remodeling.  I've also learned how to make cabinets, table, chest, and just about any other wood work that comes to mind.  I told my father that I plan to attend the Career Development Center to get my National Builders License and to obtain my Barbers License.  I have been cutting hair for 20 years.  Thad only required 1500 hours.  I became a professional while spending my time cutting in here.  I have a friend who is in the cosmotology , we made plans to start a barber and Salon naming it the Taylor Doc's This would come after the expansion project of the Construction Company.

I learned how to set up my own business site while in computer class so networking will not be a problem!  One other business Idea that I would like to share with you is a Meals on Wheels project, The original name was "The GyroCafe " but I'm undecided it would either be the above name or , Shepard's Cafe or a Delicate Cafe.  I like This in Mississippi so I think this will be a unique and successful entrepreneur Project.

The last plan, that I would like to share with you has currently been established for operation.  "Love's Gift of expression".  I used to help my Grandmother with Mary Kay and Avon Products, she would make valentine Gifts, Mothers Day Gifts and Fathers Days Gifts and also,  Easter Gifts.  I would take the gifts and set up a stands on Ellis Avenue every year for her.  She also, taught me how to make floral arrangement designs.  Since I've been locked up no one has really helped her in making the business grow into what she visioned and her arthritis only allow her to do so much.  She use to anoint me with anointing oil.  She is 74 yrs old and just recently underwent an outpatient surgery for breast cancer.  

Pearlie Mae Peterson my grandmother and Carolyn Peterson my Mom have stood by me i support through out my time, and many others have contributed financially, but my Mom and Grandma have been up and down with health issues.  They need me now spiritually, and financially.  I have become a man of prayer reading and the scriptures faithfully, meditating daily.  I no longer smoke now which was a problem for me.  I had to rehabilitate myself.  I did take my Anger management Class and this was a big help, it showed me where my anger was coming from. I know which crowds to avoid, I don't even listen to certain music now because that can arouse emotions.  This time has been and is increasingly  unbearable, people seem to always fight for no reason at all in here.  I/You can only find 3 out of every sixty inmates who actually care for their family and want to make a change.u
