CARE (Citizens Advocating Responsible Education) is hosting its second listening tour event on Wednesday, March 16 at 6:30 at the Palmetto Electric Cooperative Community Room at 111 Matthews Drive, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926 The Beaufort County School District is considering raising the sales tax 1 penny to pay for building new schools. The County is also considering a 1 penny increase as well. If both are on the ballot in November and approved, taxpayers would experience a 33% increase in the sales tax from 6 to 8%. CARE wants to gauge the taxpayers’ feelings about this.
