At many Eanes schools they are forcing teachers to go back to school-they’re forcing them to choose between their health or their work. Many teachers who are high risk or live with family that is high risk aren’t being treated as people and more as an object that the school has.

The apathy the Eanes board showed towards them by suddenly springing the information that they have to return September 21, 2020 has caused unneeded stress in a time when we as a community should all be uniting and uplifting each other.

These teachers that are deciding or already have resigned could get their teaching license suspended for a year or maybe even forever. They were given false hope by the school that they didn’t have to return if they provided evidence from a doctor that they are high risk.

The faculty is just as important as the students, the parents, and the rest of the community. They are people with real lives and precious families at home and to force this onto them is barbaric and terrible. We as a community can show support in many ways, including by signing this petition. Showing the numbers of how many in the community support these wonderful people and educators.

We all want to go back to school but we should only go back when it’s safe. Rushing our return does nothing except cause faculty to be unprepared and make it more likely that covid will spread in our community.
