DO NOT CLOSE DOWN PET SOCIETY.
DO NOT CLOSE DOWN PET SOCIETY.
The Issue
Pet Society is a VERY popular social game with one of the highest app user rankings on Facebook, where players create a virtual pet and build up a house and life for their pets, which is accessed via a Facebook application. Playfish games breathed life into Pet Society in 2008, and downloads for the app were among some of the highest recorded on Facebook. The game gathered pace, picking up over a 11 million monthly , ELEVEN MILLION MONTHLY USERS. When EA bought out playfish, a real life money cash shop feature was added, and despite some player backlash, the paid feature was eventually accepted as part of the game, offering new game features, such as a new pet movements and accessories, and 'special plushies' which had over a million different outcomes. Players spend hours trading their hard to find rare items in the game, and the 'special plushies', ponies, kitties, seasonal plushies, which roared to life, proving the most popular cash store item of the game, with thousands of players buying and trading them each day.
Imagine if a game like The Sims 3 was 'shut down'? Imagine how players would feel after spending hundreds of hours playing, building houses, buying content, sharing with friends etc.
Many players are very upset over this as their pets will effectively 'die' when the game closes, along with all the items they spent real money on, simply deleted by a careless company with no regard for paying customers.
EA are shutting pet society down but continuing a few social games with only a few thousand, compared to over ELEVEN MILLION users.
Whoever made this poor move needs to rethink it, and FAST.
By signing this petition, you may also add in the comments that you pledge not to buy ANY EA products due to this awful decision.
