We have reached 60,000 + and well on the way to our next target of 75,000. We are having an impact. Thank you.
Thank you also for the messages. It is clear how angry we are not only about E.ON but also Age UK. I would say a substantial majority of comments are aimed at Age UK's aggressive commercial strategy.
They have been forced to suspend their involvement with E.ON. But they have not apologised for misleading the pensioners they were supposed to represent.
Why don't Age UK use the muscle of the numbers of pensioners to force a better energy deal from all the energy companies? Why tie itself to one company and compromise their integrity as a charity?
Age UK continues to seek to justify its commercial involvement. They do not understand that it compromises their independence as a charity. It is a conflict of interest.
They say they offer choice. They do not.
Age UK Enterprises has an annual turnover of some £47.6 million. In 21014/15, they provided 482,000 home, travel and insurance policies tied to Ageas Insurance Ltd - No choice there then. Were these really the best deals for older people?
And how can they be giving independent advice about this when they are earning from each Ageas policy?
The same is true for Equity release. The work in association with ONE company. No choice there then!
Age UK Enterprises Ltd provided 18,000 funeral plans in 2014/15 through one company Dignity PLC, generating income of £9.3 million. One company! Were these the best available?
How can Age UK campaign independently representing the interests of pensioners against the big six energy companies when it is commercially tied in with one of the biggest?
Age UK stepped over the mark. They justify what they do by saying they are a 'social enterprise'. This is wrong. They are a charity.
Age UK have turned the pensioners they are supposed to represent into 'customers'.
