Petition calls on local MP for support.

Dear Supporter,

Today we have called on local MP Chris Vince, the MP for Harlow and surrounding areas.

Mr Vince was a former carer himself, so we have asked him to join our campaign to stop the prosecutions of carers who need support at such a turbulent time in their lives.

As you all know, carers do not get paid for the support they provide, unless they are in receipt of carers allowance, the allowance of £81.90 per week is the lowest paid benefit of its kind, and does not allow for earnings of more than £151 per week. 

The 1.3 million carers who do receive the DWP benefit can not work for more than 6 hours per week to be able to pay their bills that are steadily climbing, and has risen more than 40% in the last 10 years.
