Newfoundland Government Allow Uber/Lyft Services

0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!

When it comes to technological advancement in Canada, Newfoundland is at the bottom of the list, some will argue, some services in Newfoundland are still living in the 1990's.

Taxi cabs dominate the streets as the only on call private people moving service. A Monopoly on private people moving services means they can charge what they want to their customers, leaving customers no choice but do dish out the 20 dollar taxi ride to get to work.

I am calling for the Provincial Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to end this monopoly, and bring in 21st people moving methods such as ride-sharing services; Uber and Lyft.

This will greatly benefit Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, bringing income to drivers, healthy competition to the people moving industry, and better, higher quality rider services to the customers who use them.

The majority of Canada have embraced these services, given obvious push-back from taxi drivers to keep the monopoly, private people moving services still comfortably operate in those provinces even with ride-sharing companies present.

Even insurance companies embrace the new technology, offering ride-sharing add-on's to insurance to allow regular people to drive for these platforms while remaining safe and protected.

Please, if you believe that Newfoundland and Labrador needs to move out of the 90's and into the 21st century of technology and transportation, sign this petition. it would greatly improve quality of transportation to users, and drivers alike.

Thank you for your time.
