On the 24th of August 2021, at 07.30am approximately, I was travelling to work when I saw a young unfortunate male (24yrs of age) had climbed up onto the viaduct and was about to jump. 

Myself and two other members of the public grabbed him and pulled him to safety. We wanted him to have the chance, with proper support, to keep living. 

Last year, a gentleman by the name of Trevor Woods organised a petition that was presented to Durham County Council with over 6,000 signatures, however to no avail, following the devastating news of another person who died by suicide in this area.

Mental health is serious and statistics published below show 2019 - I would hate to see the increase in numbers over the last 18/24 months!

I have already contacted the local MP and requested support in providing safety measures for the viaduct and I am looking for people to support this, by signing this petition.
