Since 2018, Sacriston Parish Council has strenuously fought to keep Fyndoune School open however, in 2020 we were informed that the school was deemed unsuitable for purpose and went through the consultation process for closure.

Since then, the Parish Council have supported a bid from Durham United Sporting Club (DUSC) for a “licence to operate” on the Fyndoune site as a sporting hub not only for the people of Sacriston but also the wider community.

This is currently in the consultation process within the County Council however, to support the Parish Council and Durham United Sporting Clubs proposal we are asking for your support in the hope of winning this bid.

It is our intention to petition Durham County Council to accept DUSC’s business plan which would bring a much-needed multi-sporting facility into the village whilst making use of the Fyndoune site.
