The ‘Trust Pathways’ are designed to commemorate the memory of Dr Graham Dietz (Durham University Business School).  The objective is to create a fully integrated cycle pathways network across Durham City to encourage more people to cycle in safety (off-road) linked to the wider ‘space for cycling’ campaign including Newcastle.  The intention is to include bike rental stations as per the London model to encourage non-owners to participate—this project will benefit the public, staff and students alike in Durham City.  The initial stages have been planned by Dr Karen Elliott’s Project Management (DUBS) students as part of the Master Programme directed by Graham.  Support has been gained internal to DUBS and the wider University.  A meeting with DCC is in the process of being finalised.

Please sign the petition to ensure we have safe cycle paths and also assist in improving the healthy lifestyles for everybody in Durham City.  With fit for purpose cycle lanes, different modes of transport can operate while ensuring cyclist remain safe.  In addition, as Bristol, Glasgow and not least The Netherlands have proven promoting cycling is beneficial in terms of green, sustainable transport with the bonus of a preventative medical intervention of encouraging people to be more active.
