The Issue

DUP Education Minister Paul Givan is currently on an official visit to Israel at the invitation of the Israeli Embassy in London.

Israel has been accused of Genocide and Warcrimes by the International Criminal Court. The Prime Minister of Israel has an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court on the charge of war crimes.

Tax payers in Northern Ireland are paying your wages when you visit a country accused of murdering more than 20,000 children.

Minister Givan you do not represent my views and the views of many teachers in Northern Ireland who deplore the actions of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his right wing Israeli government, which has used grossly disproportionate military force against the civilian population of Gaza resulting in the deaths of more that 68,000 people including medical workers, international relief workers, journalists, teachers/educators and trade union activists.

Over 200 schools and all 19 universities in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed, leaving over 600,000 young people without education.

We demand that you immediately step down as Minister for Education in NI and allow the position to be taken by someone with a moral and ethical outlook that better reflects the majority of those who live here.
