I wish to formally express my concern regarding the current employee parking charge of €7 per day at Dundrum, operated by Bidvest Noonan.

Charging a flat daily rate of €7, regardless of the number of hours worked, places an unfair and disproportionate financial burden on employees who work short or part-time shifts. For staff members working only four-hour shifts, this charge represents a significant percentage of their daily earnings and is difficult to justify.

Many employees are already living pay cheque to pay cheque and are facing the ongoing pressures of rising living costs. Requiring staff to pay the same parking fee whether they work four hours or a full eight to twelve-hour shift is excessive and, from the perspective of those affected, feels extortionate.

Employees should not be financially disadvantaged simply for attending work. A fairer system would introduce a pro-rata or hourly parking rate that reflects the actual duration of an employee’s shift. This would provide a more equitable approach and demonstrate consideration for the financial circumstances of part-time workers.

I respectfully request that Bidvest Noonan review its employee parking policy and consider implementing a more reasonable pricing structure that supports all staff, particularly those working shorter shifts or on lower incomes.
