Stop the sale of NPS, so called legal highs, in our local shops.

The Issue

We the undersigned call upon shop owners and landlords to stop the sale of legal highs within their shop premises in our local communities.

Legal highs can cause permanent physical and mental health problems or untimely death. They are untested, unregulated and are NOT SAFE.

This campaign was started following concerns raised by local residents about the impact of legal highs on their families and vulnerable young people in their communities.

Around half of the patients admitted to Dundee's Ninewells Psychiatric Care Unit have taken so called legal highs.

" There is growing evidence linking drug deaths in the city to legal highs."

Between February and April of 2015, there were 16 drug overdoses in the city, with seven of the people involved dying from the substances. (Source : Addaction).

We call upon shop owners and landlords to stop the sale and supply of these lethal substances being sold from their premises. They are being sold as "not for human consumption", "bath salts", "incense burners", or "plant food". Unscrupulous traders are selling so called legal highs in the full knowledge of the dangers and harmful effects the substances have on people's lives and communities.

YOUR ACTION COULD SAVE LIVES AND HELP TO MAKE OUR COMMUNITIES SAFER.
