Hi
Again, thank you so much for signing the petition, we are now at over 1,700 signatures and I plan to send this to the counsellors in advance of their meeting in February to show the unhappiness with DLCoCo and their Living Streets plan.
There is a march also being planned I wanted to let you know to tell DLCoCo to start to actually listen to the residents and not just do anything they want to (normally making a mess of it as well!)
It's on this Friday at 11am from the Dominican School on Convent Road
Please attend if you can
Thanks
Dave
Take to the streets & march with us.
Friday 2nd February
11am
Meet at Convent Rd/Convent Lane then go down Marine Rd to County Hall.
Enough is enough!
Do we have to march on the streets? Yes
Make our voices heard? Yes
They say it's an Active Travel Plan Project. Sitting in traffic ain't too active!!
DLR CoCo is digging up so many roads around the area...with little or no joined up plan. It's carnage out there. Roads are getting narrower, cycle lanes being installed at speed everywhere... all being done too fast, to suit the NTR/grants.
I have nothing against bikes, most people don't. I even have a bike myself (not used a lot due to back issues) There's too much emphasis on making cars "evaporate" ! ...to where?
Unfortunately the narrative out there in our community seems to becoming a "them and us, "bikes or cars", "old vs young", "healthy or infirm" ... it's truly a devising topic. It's not nice.
Roads currently with roadworks:
Dalkey Avenue
Glenageary Rd
Barnhill Rd (maybe temporarily finished)
N11
Rochestown Ave
Johnstown Rd (may not have started)
Pottery Rd
Bakers Corner
DEANSGRANGE Fiasco
Please add more...
Then there's the following planned:
"Living Streets" (a whole other headache right there - I saw one politician post online that she was traumatised by the last 2 weeks!)
Amend this Living Streets ptoposal
- leave Tivoli Rd as is or at least one way with cycle lane.
- leave the car spacescin Clarinda Park
It's up to the community to voice our opinions to the Cllrs who will vote in Feb/March.
CPO on a lot of Glenageary Rd Lower and Rochestown Ave private gardens.
Raised table crossing at Peoples Park/Summerhill Rd, narrowing of roads/widening of paths (junction tightening) like Fitzgeralds Pub corner.
CMR (Coastal Mobility Route) Permanent refurbishment from Blackrock to Sandycove Beach, with new granite kerbs (replacing the rubber ones) car spaces removed, disabled car spaces moved to around the corner away from the beachfront, casual trading spot (ice cream van) moved.
If any of this upsets you enough to march on
Friday 2nd February at 11am -
please join us from Dominican School on Convent Road along Marine Road to County Hall and ask for Frank Curran (or his reps) to accept a letter asking for explanations. (Would love to ask for his resignation!!)
Thanks - if anyone has a better solution please let me hear it.
There's little or no peeps from our voted public reps, the Cllrs, on much of this. Where are they?
