Hi
I wanted to update you on a couple of things that have recently happened. This morning I emailed all 40 councillors with your feedback and your thoughts and have put the email below for you to read. I also reached out to the Irish Independent and the Southside People to see if they are interested in running a story on it.
Also, a group of concerned citizens have started to organize a protest
Amend the Living Streets
Assemble at 10.00 am at The Town Hall Marine Road for the next 5 Saturdays. The DLRCC meeting to consider the plan is on the 11th March. Come and let the councillors know you want amendments to
- omit the Tivoli Road modal filter and
- omit the reduction of the Clarinda Pk car spaces
Please attend if you can.
Lastly many thanks for the time you have already given to asking the Council to reexamine the bits of the plan that don't work
Dave

Subject: 1,844 local residents are saying no the the Living Streets proposal
Hi
I wanted to take an opportunity to reach out one more time to ask you to vote no on the Living Streets proposal so that the truly contentious issues can be reexamined and reapplied in a way that suits all your constituents, not just the 300 or so who live on Tivoli Road. My change.org petition, promoted only to locals, now has 1,844 of your voters saying no and I put their names and comments below for you to look at.
There seem to be two major issues that people have difficulty with in the Living Streets project especially for those who are older and need carers' help or need to be able to use their cars as our public transport system, unfortunately, is not fit for purpose which probably only account for about 10 per cent of the overall project as most people are happy with most of the project.
1) Tivoli Road, most people cannot understand why a modal filter needs to be put in which stops through traffic. Car reduction and safety can be achieved by making the road one-way and having a dedicated two-way cycle path and pavement, which the council are already proposing as part of LS - they are just also putting in a model filter for reasons unknown. The counterflow road would be the coast road, which the council already proposes.
2) Clarinda Park parking - Even the residents association has now agreed that leaving the same number of car parking spaces would be a good thing, they would just like the park upgraded, as would all residents.
DLCoCo went to the NRA with a plan and came back to locals with a fait accompli hoping it would be rubber-stamped, but the locals don't want this as can be seen by the depth of feeling on local facebook forums. I set up the petition to have a focal point for local people, this petition has only been promoted on local forums such as Dalkey, Dun Laoighaire and Deansgrange Open Forums. This was set up in response to the fact that the PRO living streets have been promoted NATIONALLY by The Green Party, Young Fine Gael and Cycling.ie and allows responses from anyone anywhere in the country. In fact, organisations in places as far away as Kildare, Fingal and Ennis have been asking their members to vote yes to the proposal!!! I don't intend to tell people in Ennis how to live and I am frustrated they get a chance to tell me and my family Glenageary born, bred and still living in how to live.
Couple this with some very spurious wording in the survey from DLCoCo where the default answer is Yes, but with changes" allowing them to claim what Dublin CC just has - that 80% of people are positive towards a plan. If the response has been a more accurate "No, unless changes are made" it would be 80% against the plan. Please insist on DLCoCo breaking out the percentages of Yes, Yes but with changes and No and I promise you that the yes but with changes means yes but only if there are changes ie a NO vote.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and please vote NO this time to allow people to reexamine the proposal so that it can then go ahead to benefit ALL local residents not just a few. How do you think the people of Tivoli Road would react if we on the Upper Glenageary Road said they were not allowed to pass through our road to access Killiney Hill?
