Tracey Taylor started this petition to Dumfries and Galloway Council and

Dumfries town centre and surrounding areas have been plagued by Seagulls for years.  The problem is getting worse and it is time that Dumfries and Galloway Council took this problem seriously!  Gulls are now swooping down into peoples gardens whilst they eat outside, snatching food from people and high street stores. The town centre is like an enormous birdcage for gulls with bird dropping everywhere in the town centre.  I witnessed a child hiding underneath a parked car with her ice cream whilst a huge gull was trying to get to her!  Why is Dumfries and Galloway Council doing nothing about this problem?  They want to apply for city status?  I am certain that whoever comes to inspect the town as part of the process for city status application will be shocked at the state of the town centre which is over run with gulls and pavements covered in bird droppings!  SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE NOW!!  People who visit the town, am sure will be reluctant to return when they experience the horrendous presence of these gulls!  Tourists are unlikely to return to the region after experiencing the nightmare that dumfries residents have to live with on a daily basis.  Dumfries is a lovely town, but the problem with the gulls is seriously causing a problem.
