Reinstate Assigned Student Parking
This petition made change with 271 supporters!
In previous years, students were okay with paying $50 dollars for their parking spot because they were paying for their assigned personal parking spot. However, with the new system students are paying the same price but with no guaranteed spot. The Penn State DuBois campus beside us has an unassigned parking lot but they only charge $10 dollars for a parking pass. Keep in mind that Penn State DuBois is a private school and DuBois Area Highschool is a public school. Is it fair that public highschool students pay 5 times more for unassigned parking than students of a private university? The pre-assigned parking places used in previous years identified where each car was supposed to park for the whole year. This helped prevent parking disputes because everyone knew what spot they were assigned to park in. This new system could potentially cause dangerous sitatuions where students, many of them new drivers, could be fighting over the best spots and racing to school to get the best spots. This new system basically creates a parking free-for-all which would increase the chance of accidents. This problem was easily avoided by the assigned spots of the old system. If you also believe that student parking spots should be assigned by number to individual students please sign this petition so we can restore the old parking system.
