Hear our Voices and Stop Brexit Borders

The Issue

We, the undersigned, are concerned that, despite widespread acknowledgement that a hard border in Ireland or down the Irish Sea would cause significant social, economic and political challenges, an agreed solution has yet to be reached.

As well as the recognised trade and economic implications, any Brexit borders will significantly impact upon the lives of ordinary people, their families and their communities on a day to day basis. The worries, anxieties, fears and frustrations of these ordinary people are not being heard. We are asking the Governments in London, Dublin, Brussels and the politicians in Belfast to listen to the concerns being voiced. We are looking for practical assurances, not jargon or repetitive rhetoric.

We stand against any borders on the island of Ireland or down the Irish Sea. We stand for the freedom and flexibility currently afforded.

We are calling on responsible powers to give due consideration to the voices of all people who will be affected. We ask the October European Summit that any outcomes protect the positive cross-border experiences, North - South and East - West. We call on all powers to agree a solution to ensure there will be no borders on the island of Ireland or down the Irish Sea.
