Jordan Kate is a Senior in Dublin City Schools who has autism. She has attended Dublin schools until her Senior year, at which time her family opted for the Autism Scholarship and went to a center for kids with autism. She flourished there and has made such amazing strides. They always assumed that because they were using the Autism Scholarship, that Dublin would allow her to walk at her graduation with her TWIN brother.
Dublin is now REFUSING to allow her to walk because the center she attends is not a charter school. This is not how the ASP was designed to work. And even if it was, why would ANYONE who works with CHILDREN not allow a Special Needs child walk across the STAGE and get an empty DIPLOMA? This is awful and shouldn't be allowed.
I am asking all of my family, friends, acquaintances and their families, friends and acquaintances, to sign this petition. Maybe if Dublin received enough signatures and/or phone calls from everyone, they would change their mind.
Jordan is a GREAT kid who is working so hard to graduate and go to college. Not allowing her to walk with her BROTHER is UNACCEPTABLE and just absolutely UNFORGIVABLE!!! DUBLIN CITY SCHOOLS LET JK WALK AT HER GRADUATION on June 4!!! Please contact Dublin City Schools Superintendent,
Todd F. Hoadley, Ph.D. - Superintendent
, 614-760-4353 and insist they let JK walk at her graduation with her friends and brother.
