Save the Fairview Trees

Save the Fairview Trees

The beautiful old trees that line the footpath along the front of Fairview Park are in danger of being felled, to make way for a proposed new cycleway. The wonderful wrought iron fencing and gates would also be removed. The very essence and character of Fairview is under threat and we need to protect it. We need to save these trees! These trees were planted in stages from 1908 and according to a recent aborist's report, they have the ability to provide an amenity in the area for decades to come. There is also a cycleway that goes through the park already in existence, which could be upgraded instead of felling these historic trees. This cycleway is pictured on the main page of this petition. There are also numerous other alternative solutions that could be considered before it is even suggested that these trees be chopped!

Please also contact your representative in Dublin City Council to personally object to the felling of these beautiful mature trees. They may try to tell you they'll plant even more trees in place of these ones but that's not good enough, these trees are irreplaceable!
