What's wrong with public transport in Dublin? There is no way I can travel with my border collie on a bus or Dart or luas, on Dart and Luas website they say you must have your dog In a carrier or you can't have it on board, they have to explain me how I supposed to bring such a big carrier with me, what about people that have even bigger dogs? Can you even imagine going on a bus with such a thing? On Dublin bus website they say that driver can decide if you can bring a dog on board or not, but looks like not even one allows you to get on the bus with it. It is almost impossible to travel with my dog, i can't even go to a park if i don't have a car. In a big city like Dublin there are so many people that own a dog and i find it crazy that this is happening. We should be allowed to bring them with us, they are our companions, our friends. There are a lot of issues with abandoned dogs(you should never abandon your dog no matter what) and the fact that there is no way to move freely with your dog is one of the contributing factors too. The rules should be changed, we should be allowed to bring them with us, a lot of studies have proved that a dog is good for you and your mental healt, it helps to reduce stress, loneliness and a lot more. In a lot of big cities you can travel with your dog, you just need a muzzle, a leash and pay ticket for your dog. Feels like we are still in the stone age......If a dog sits nice and quiet next to it's owner I don't understand what the problem is. Bus driver should have a right to refuse the dog if without muzzle or leash or clearly can not be controlled by it's owner.
