On July 19, 2021, when Dublin opens its flight borders, the airport makes a statement on its website announcing that pets will not be allowed to fly on airlines and will have to be transported by cargo companies.
The only airlines that carry animals are Iberia Express and Air France, the cost for carrying your pet in the hold is about 120€, plus you spend more time with your pet and you pick it up when you arrive at destination, ie, the pet suffers less stress and spends less hours locked up.
Aer Lingus transports animals on their planes but through cargo companies. The cost of transporting your pet on their planes is €922.50 minimum, and you pay an extra fee when you arrive at destination. It is not only an extra cost, it is also more stress, because you have to leave your pet three hours before and when you arrive at destination you have to go to the central office of the cargo company, far from airports and without access by public transport, that is, more expenses and stress for the pet.
Thousands of people who had their tickets booked since June or earlier, are now unable to fly with their pets because of this.
This is a clear attempt, by both Aer Lingus and cargo companies, to take advantage of their paying customers (and the pets these companies claim to be trying to help) to generate additional profit and nothing else
Currently, there are no dates available, no Ferry or way out of Dublin with our pets.
We ask you to change the current regulations, allow us to enjoy our vacations and travel, do not promote animal abandonment, and above all, an animal's life is not a suitcase, nor something inert, they are part of our family.
Dublin airport on the social network Facebook informs that due to the volume of people traveling, space is needed for suitcases.
