The cruel intentions of the government to silence Activist Mabai is best described by Stephen King and in his words exemplified the injustice faced by bloggers and social media activists and their forceful arrest. Some birds are not meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure. -Stephen King "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Benjamin Franklin, “Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.” Abraham Lincoln. It's been 16 days since the Nigerian Police held Mr. Jamil Ismail Mabai behind bars on the order of the executive Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State although he had since denied that fact. The government has shown we the people that they are inhumane and care less about the citizens they governed. In a chat with Mr. Mabai's family on why the delayed of his bail, One of his brothers said "I called my brother in katsina around 2pm on Tuesday to confirm, so he told me that the file is still in the Chief Judge office but it may come out before closing hour. But he said it may reach Friday 7th of October before they will be able to secure the bail because it involves due process, the judge will have to write to notify the small court that the case has been transfered to a new judge and the new judge must have fixed a day for him to study the case before giving the bail order. So our brother said it might reach Friday." How long will the government inflict pains on the people? Every single person Matters. No one is more Important or valuable. Each human being Has a unique set of gifts. We all deserve to be Treated with kindness. Everyone can shine If allowed to. We don’t have to compete Against one another. We’re all in this Together. No Nigerian is more Nigerian than any Nigerian. If you do not sign this petition, I don't know who will be the next. It could me, It could be you, your sister, daughter, husband, father, mother or your friend. It is our collective RESPONSIBILITY to FIGHT against INJUSTICE. Your actions could help bring forceful arrest to justice. Change laws to stop violence against activists. Or release people who have been jailed just for speaking out. So take action today, and help protect people’s human rights across the world. I strongly urge the authorities to: • Drop all charges against Mr. Mabai, others and release them immediately and unconditionally as he is a prisoner of conscience, detained solely for peacefully exercising his right to freedom of expression; • Provide Mr. Mabai and others with any medical attention they may require, pending their release. Join us to stop injustice before it stops us. Activist personality can't be dent by a mere arrest rather they see more reasons to fight and protect the citizens against injustice.
