Drum Corps International is a diverse and accepting activity. Holding the Championships and housing the activities Headquarters in Indiana now that the Religious Freedom Bill has been signed into law would be contrary to its mission, to its core values of inclusion, and could have dramatic repercussions on the activity. A world championship for an activity that accepts all should be held in a state where all are welcome. Imagine a gay member of a corps being refused service at Lucas Oil Stadium during Championship week, or a Parent, or staff. When I marched, the activity championed itself on its diversity, and its inclusion. The repercussions of holding the activities highest stage in a state where this kind of discrimination will be legal and encouraged will be ever damaging. Please, DCI, please let Indiana Governor Mike Pence know that Drum Corps International may move the location of its Championships and home offices to a state that welcomes everyone.
