On Monday, June 30th Putnam County Young Democrats organized to attend the June Putnam County Commission Meeting. Upon adjournment Vice President of PCYD Trenton Strode was violently detained after approaching his County Commissioner. 

According to police, Trenton was approaching his County Commissioner “too quickly”. 

Trenton was the only Black man in the audience and is the only Black board member of the Putnam County Young Democrats. The blatant discrimination and targeting of Trenton by the Putnam County Sheriffs must be called out. Trenton was eventually arrested and unjustly charged with disrupting a meeting, resisting arrest, and assault against a first responder. 

Trenton has a right to attend public meetings and speak to his elected county commissioner.
