Adult Learning Cabin for the Droitwich Community

Two months ago staff from Droitwich Spa High School, business leaders from Droitwich Means Business and the Droitwich Town Council came together to develop plans for “The Cabin” that will provide some great new facilities for the local community.

After a successful first phase, the proposal is moving into phase two of a funding bid to Wychavon District Council. The Cabin will be up against strong competition from others across the district and we therefore need your support to demonstrate to the Council the importance of this project to our community and how worthy it is of a modest share in the £3 million available from the Community Legacy Grant scheme.

The Cabin will be located next to “The Centre” at Droitwich Spa High School and house an alternative learning room for up to 15 students, a small kitchenette and accessible toilet. The location on the school site is a safe and accessible place with free parking if needed and importantly, where staff who have positive relationships with pupils and families can support courses and attendance.

The Cabin will also be the venue for Adult Education programmes, designed and planned by and for the local community. Plans include industry recognised First Aid Qualifications, ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) courses as well as computer skills.

The Cabin is a long-term project with the potential to have significant social impact. It will increase and enhance the highly regarded offer already provided by the school and will engage local children of all ages.

To support our bid for £150,000 we need as many signatures as possible.
