WE DEMAND POLICE ACCOUNTABILITY! Americans Against Police Violence Toward Civilians (AAPV)
The Issue
Minority groups in the U.S.A. have been historically targeted and impacted by violence from police, disproportionately, particularly in cases where the civilian was unarmed, not resisting arrest, unfairly targeted, involved in a minor infraction or simply profiled.
Every day, I actively attempt to protect my daughter from images of black and brown people being assaulted and killed by active and former law enforcement officers during everyday activities, such as: walking, running, playing, driving, asking questions or even sleeping, without provocation. We've watched in horror as U.S. citizens, have been murdered during routine traffic stops, who were unarmed and the only common factor is that they were minorities.
The petition asks for three things:
1. Consistent and transparent national investigation processes and oversight for officer involved activities resulting in civilian loss of life
2. Assault, battery, or murder of minorities must be considered hate crimes when the action is not warranted and no other motive exists
3. No person with membership in, contributing to, nor attending rallies for hate groups can be employed as a police officer
Please help us affect change through legislation. Forward this to everyone that you know, bring it up in community forums, sign this petition, and address it with you elected officials. Don’t forget to SIGN THIS PETITION. Please. We really need your support.
