We would like to share a brief update on where things stand, and why your continued support matters.

 
What the current numbers tell us
The petition has now received thousands of verified signatures, achieved entirely through voluntary participation.

Based on observed engagement rates and standard civic participation benchmarks, extrapolation suggests that hundreds of thousands, and potentially up to one million Australians, may be willing to support this position once they are aware of it.

This is not unusual. Governments routinely extrapolate national sentiment from surveys of just 1,000 to 2,000 people. A petition signature, which requires active effort, is an even stronger signal of support.

Our immediate goal: 10,000 signatures
Reaching 10,000 signatures is an important milestone. It strengthens the case for formal review and signals that this issue warrants serious consideration.

This is not about speed.
It is about awareness.

Most people do not oppose this issue.
They simply have not encountered it yet.

People to reflect rather than react
Understanding to replace assumptions
