Save Arthur

Save Arthur
The Issue
I communicated this information to St. Louis County Animal Care and Control Director, Vanessa Duris, Vduris@stlouisco.com. Please send her an email & ask her to correct her mistake.
As I sit here with tears streaming down my face, I am writing this, begging for help!
This sweet boy, whom I refer to as Arthur has been returned to his abuser under the direction of Vanessa Duris.
Arthur was brought into St. Louis County ACC during a cruelty investigation along with two other dogs. I saw them while I was there picking up another dog for rescue and immediately wanted to bring Arthur and his brother into rescue. I was told I had to wait because of the ongoing investigation.
A couple of weeks ago I got the call, I could get his brother! He had been relinquished by his previous owner. Clarence is now in his foster to adopt home thriving!
I continued to check on Arthur, waiting to bring him into rescue. I was told this week he was RETURNED TO HIS OWNER along with the other dog that came in with them.
As evidenced in this picture, this dog was malnourished and sick when removed from the home by Animal Control.
I reached out to the Vanessa Duris, Director of St. Louis County ACC for more information on how this happened. I begged and pleaded for Arthur's life.
Vanessa Duris had a home visit conducted and Arthur was left in the home of his abusers.
Desperate, I went Arthur's home, my plan was to purchase him, to beg for him, to save him.
I spoke to the owners, offering whatever they wanted for any of the dogs in the house, not just Arthur. While the reception was not warm they were not ignorant nor was I. I explained I only care about the dogs and nothing else. They proceeded to tell me their dogs were not for sale & they were in “good hands.”
Shame on Vanessa Duris for giving this dog back to his ABUSERS when she did not have to. She has admitted to me that this shouldn’t have happened, she’s going to try and rectify it.
I’m asking you to help me hold her to her word, to save Arthur before it is too late. Arthur needs a voice, please help me be his voice.
