University of Richmond Administration and Board of Trustees:

We write to you as a United Alumni to express our disgust, sadness, anger, frustration and dismay related to your mishandling of the recent sexual assault case that the brave Ms. Carreras has brought to light. 

We stand with CC and all members of the Richmond community who have been impacted by your tolerance of sexual assault. As a United Alumni, we will no longer tolerate your inaction and misinformed practices around sexual assault. 

By signing this petition, we assert that we will NOT CONTRIBUTE to the University in any way (i.e. Donate, attend events, volunteer, buy merchandise, etc), UNTIL ACTION is taken. 

As alumni we want to see the following: 

1. Accountability from administration in the form of a public apology for victim blaming and shaming Ms. Carreras, publicly sharing how certain administration and faculty will be held accountable for disgusting remarks justifying the rape, and engaging in an open and honest dialogue with the whole UR community. 

2. A plan of action in the form of a report outlining the specific steps that will be taken to assure the sexual assault culture at UR will change and that sexual assault will NOT BE TOLERATED (even by 'star' athletes). 

3. Establishment of the student proposed Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Center. 

Please act from a place of dignity and honor. It will take action and change for us to again contribute to the University that we were once so proud to call our alma mater. We are hopeful that you will take the necessary steps to restore our faith and pride in UR!
