I attended the meeting this morning and the schedule has been proposed based on sleep studies, saying that modifying the schedule will benefit students learning ability by gaining "40 more minutes of sleep." I'm going to be honest, if a high schooler goes to sleep at 1 am now, next year they'll just stay up 40 minutes later. (If approved.) This was brought up during the meeting, but was shot down by the claim that "teenagers will eventually get bored and go to sleep." I was also made aware that all school activities will be pushed back by an 40 minutes to an hour, so if a band student finishes practice at 8 PM now, they would then finish anywhere from 8:40 PM to 9 PM after this change.
Anyways, please attend one of these meetings if you can- they're tallying who is for it or against it at the end of each one! There are 8 meetings about this left in the month of May.
