This change will help create a level of awareness, respect and sensitivity towards the hijab. When we send our daughters to school in Islamic attire it is hard on them to face the fact that they will look different from the majority of their peers. We have to constantly encourage them to be brave and courageous and to accept their beauty. When we send them to school, we are sending them with a level of confidence hoping that they will be treated fairly by all staff and faculty members, especially their teachers. Teachers are put in position of leadership and trust. We cannot push a no bullying zone if the teachers are themselves doing the bullying. My daughters attend a public school and wear a hijab everyday and I would like to continue to send them to school in confidence knowing that they as well as their few Muslim classmates will be treated with respect and with the highest level of dignity. Please help me make it clear to Dr. Tim Malone of New Vision Academy that he should uphold the morales of his school by terminating the teacher who pulled off a Muslim student’s hijab. Tell him bullying is never ok!
