Bring Guidelines for ePharmacy
Bring Guidelines for ePharmacy
The Issue
Why ePharmacy is good for India?
1) Complete track for every sale made of every medicine right from the manufacturer to the patient
2) Right now, if a product recall happens from the manufacturer, most of the time the recall is restricted/incomplete and track stops at the retailer. The actual consumers viz patients who has already bought it doesnt even know that the batch purchased is not of standard quality.
In the epharmacy route, even the patient can be alerted and the consequences can be avoided.
3) In this era of nuclear and double income families, care takers of elders & senior citizens mostly will usually seek the convenience of getting everything delivered to doorstep. The existing system creates unnecessary pressure on the elders to visit the pharmacy every time they run out of medicines.
4) Earning members can pay for their parents online and ship the medicines to the door steps of their parents in their home-town.
5) From the regulatory point of view, since every transaction is properly documented in the epharmacy route, all stakeholders have total visibility be it either, taxation laws, drug laws, etc which will enable better than the existing compliance and revenues to the government and also peace of mind to the end users.
6) It will be an extension of the telemedicine concept and enable high quality medical care to the public in the rural areas as well.
7) If epharmacy is enabled, then people in remote villages also can get access to all the medicines in their fingertips through technology
8) Its a more efficient supply chain system for supplying the rare & expensive medicines to even the most remote part of the country.
9) Since every step is documented, chances of counterfeit or spurious medicines reaching the consumers is completely ruled out.
These are just some of the immense benefits govt and general public will get through epharmacy.
For every benefit from a new initiative, there are chances of the system being misused also.
But, if proper guideline are there , then public will enjoy the benefits of the initiative.
