First thing this morning superintendent Dr.Sean Alford delivered an email to each individual teacher at North Augusta High school. In this email, this petition was attached. The email contained a message stating that a singular voice needs to address the content of the dress code. Over the intercom, it was announced that leggings are OK under attire that overlays three inches above the knee. You would think that would satisfy the student body and stop the riots and this petition, but the matter prolongs. Students today have said the following. ( Not MY words, these statements are from the student body, and some North Augusta teachers { who’s names shall remain anonymous because teachers shall not be punished for their freedom of speech})

•”that means we can not wear sweatshirts. That makes no sense”

•”no one owns sweatshirts that big”

•”this dress code is sexist because of a male superintendent”

•students in Maine and Vermont have little to no dress code. They are ranked higher in education so it is kind of obvious leggings affect nothing”

•”South Carolina education is a failure because of issues like this”

•”Well, Mrs.Day wears ridiculously short skirts, but no one says anything to her because that would be inappropriate”

•”it is just leggings this is honestly ridiculous”

•”no wonder Aiken County is struggling to

even get teachers to work at schools, they don’t want to put up with all of this just to be underpaid”

•”my teacher said leggings are still banned”

•”this is why I am retiring soon”

•”ok, but what’s the point”

•”guys don’t understand periods... I NEED my leggings”

It is definite to see students continue to be unsatisfied. So now I am going to turn this campaign around. Leggings worn in ALL ways should be tolerated. Females should not be sexualized. Female bodies are delicate and need to be taken care of, leggings add softness and comfort to help take care of our bodies. So I urge you to keep signing to let this petition take action.
