increase in tuition fee at Mithibai College of Arts, Chauhan Institutes of Science & Amrut
The Issue
Mithibai College of Arts, Chauhan Institutes of Science & Amrutben Jivanlal College of Commerce and Economics has increased their fee from ₹ 24,745 to ₹ 30,000 for academic year 2020-2021.This is 23% more than previous year which is not at all legitimate decision taken by authorities. The students who opted for the self- finance courses are worst affected as they were unaware about this immoral act.
Firstly, this action has no description or proper explanation for clear surge of ₹ 5255 that to for a course that doesn't facilitates any financial aid.It's an under informed decision which gives students no choice but to pay the due amount within the time frame of 2-4 days which again is another issue altogether.The amount to be paid is already highly raised and despite of any relief on tuition fees the institute is forcing us all to pay it in single installment which is not acceptable to any of the current grads at Mithibai college.
secondly, according to government guidelines and considerations all the entities/institutes/companies and organisations are operating with reduced staff and pay cuts are also deployed by the colleges in despite of so many efforts of cost cutting and reduce in workforce requirement the authorities of Mithibai college are so audacious about the act of looting the students on both grounds financially and conceptually. All college have transitioned to 100% online classes. Most of these colleges don’t have the proper resources or know how to provide a proper education through online courses. Most professors are not proficient in the new technologies required for online courses to be successful.
This is highly irresponsible approach to the problem by the policymakers and to compensate the students the authority must go with either reducing the fee by 26% as earlier or allow to pay the amount in three equal installments divided proportionately throughout the year 2020-2021.
This act is destructive to current and potential Mithibai students and will push many students away from the college. This would be a shame for Maharashtra State as an institution as they pride themselves on affordability and inclusiveness.
