After having experienced numerous times the trek to Raigmore and beyond, and knowing many people who also had similar experiences, I believe it is time something got done about the poor facilities and services provided at Caithness General Hospital. The next nearest hospital is Raigmore in Inverness which is 120 miles from myself and even more for others. It is ridiculous that we have a hospital less than 15 miles away and yet have to travel regularly the 120 miles for services such as a pediatrician, and a place to give birth. On many of these occasions we have been sent down to Inverness to be told there's nothing wrong or to be given Calpol and sent home. Elgins Dr Grays Hospital is 40 miles from Raigmore and 70 miles from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and yet it boasts a Special Care baby unit, a pediatric unit and much more. People in the North of Scotland deserve better!!
