The issues of harassment, bullying and discrimination have been highlighted by hundreds of current and former students at schools across Lahore in the past few weeks. Lahore Grammar School Defence (Phase 1 and 5) is amongst these institutions.

As a response, alumni from the school came together to form the LGS Defence Collective. The Collective aims to put forward the issues faced by current students as well as persistent issues faced by generations of alumni, engage in dialogue with the management, and ensure measures for prevention, correction and accountability are put into place at LGS Defence. Our goal is not to penalize individuals or undermine the school but to ensure that all students are safe and able to access a quality educational experience equally.

Since July 24th, 2020 we have attempted to contact the school through all possible means – emails, messages, phone calls. However, we have not received any response.

At this time, we are asking for a meeting with the Director, Dr. Neelam Hussain, to bring all the aforementioned problems to her attention and put forward a Charter of Demands that details possible paths forward. We demand that the school meet with the Collective, listen to the students’ grievances, and address the toxic culture that has allowed for the silencing of student voices for almost 20 years.
