The Issue

Letter to the Superintendent, Principal, and Board of Education

The following are a list of a few precautions that can be taken whilst having an in-person ceremony:

Students being socially distanced on Seeber or Whitney Field. Both of these fields can hold students with between 6 to 10 feet placed in between them.

Students could safely queue on campus drive or unused athletics fields prior to the ceremony.

Students could wear facial coverings during the commencement.

Rather than having students seated separate from their parents, have the parents sit with the student to avoid contact between families

Instead of walking across the stage, students could stand up from their chairs when their name is called.

Diplomas could be mailed home or obtained at a later date.

Contactless ceremony from start to finish.

Pick-ups and drop offs can be choreographed alphabetically to ensure proper distancing

Only family members who have been quarantining with the graduate will be allowed.

The ceremony could be open to only students. All spectators would be able to watch on a live-stream from home.

As a very last resort, a ceremony could be held in person in late July or early August prior to students leaving for college.
